Cats: The Purrrfect pet ever

When you think of having the perfect pet—the one that will be your life partner for a long time—you probably think of a dog. But what happens if I tell you that I was thinking of a cat? Cats are the best pet you can have in your life, and I tell you this as a cat owner for almost 3 years. Every cat is different due to their personalities. Despite that, cats share many qualities. Cats are cunning, agile, independent, and very intelligent, but at the same time, they are so affectionate. They have so much love to give to people who are willing to get to know them better. Having a cat as a pet can bring a lot of happiness into your life, and you can't help but fall in love with them at first sight. So, in this blog entry, I’m going to talk about my experience being a cat owner; then, I will share with you how cats choose their favorite person; and finally, I will tell you all the care that a cat should have to make them feel comfortable.

Since childhood, I have always loved the idea of having a pet, but my mom never gave me one because she thought that I was too young to take care of a pet properly. I was fine with that, but a part of me always wished that decision would change someday, until one day, it did. I will remember that night of the 25th of December 2020 all my life because my life changed completely from that date. That was the night I got my cat, "Minerva." I remember that night when my mom needed to take out the garbage. She took at least ten minutes, and when she returned, she brought a kitten with her. Since that day, I had to learn to be responsible for everything. I had to learn how to take care of her and how cats behave in general so as not to make any mistakes or do something that could bother her. And it wasn't easy. It took me a long time to get used to what the idea of having a pet meant. But I also have learned about what unconditional love feels like. Despite the bad times I've had with her, I would never regret having her; she's the best unexpected Christmas gift I've ever had.

Having a pet is all right, but being the pet’s favorite human is literally amazing. It’s that moment when the whole family fights tooth and nail to obtain that title—in a hypothetical way, obviously, right? And I know that very well because I’m my cat’s second favorite, the first one is my mom, and to be honest, I don’t think I can beat her anytime soon. Winning the love of a pet is relatively easy, but if we’re talking about the love of a cat, things become more complicated. Not because they hate everyone or because it’s so hard to love them because it’s not like that. This is due some cats are prone to being lonely animals, and they take their time to get used to their new environment. Despite this, when a cat begins to trust you, a bond is naturally created between cats and humans who treat them well. Therefore, if you take good care of your cats, feed them, make them feel safe, and respect their unique personality, you’re sure to be their favorite person in the world.

Cats, like every pet, need to be treated with respect and with all the love you can give them, and everyone knows that. But they also need physical care to ensure a long life in good health. Sometimes, when it's our first time taking care of a cat, we don’t know how to start or what care they need to be healthy, but it’s easier than you think. Obviously, cats have special needs that are very important for you to learn because they are so different from other pets. Cleaning their litter box, brushing their hair regularly, buying them quality food, so they can get all their nutrients, playing with them every day, so they expend energy, and regular visits to the vet are just some examples of caring that can make them feel comfortable with you and their environment. It sounds difficult at the beginning, and I’m not going to lie, it is hard to get used to doing them on a daily basis because they mean a lot of responsibility, but with time and all your commitment and love for your cat, you don’t realize that these actions are part of your daily routine, and you can also start enjoying them.

In summary, we can say that having a pet, especially a cat, is something that requires a lot of your time, commitment, and, above all, your responsibility to take care of them in an adequate way. But if you’re conscious of all of this, in your cat you can find a living being that sees you as their hero and the person who gives them all your affection, sometimes more than they need. But you can also find emotional support by just having them stay in the same room as you. They demonstrate their love uniquely. You don’t choose them; they choose you to be part of your life forever.
